CPUBLD started with a broken CPU pin, a family computer, and a teenager determined to figure it out. This is how a curiosity became a company.
Why CPUBLD exists
It started the way a lot of these things do — with a kid who loved games.
Jonathan was always a gamer. His first console was a Wii, then an Xbox — and that’s where it all changed. He discovered Minecraft, but he didn’t want to play it on a console. He wanted to play it on a PC, where you could install mods and customize everything. So he started gaming on the family computer — not a gaming rig, just a basic machine for documents and the internet.
That was the moment the curiosity kicked in. He wanted to know how the computer actually worked, and how to squeeze more performance out of it. So he did what most people wouldn’t dare to: he tore it apart to learn what every part did.
There was an AMD CPU in that family computer. While moving things around — not knowing it was an AM4 socket — he accidentally bent and broke a pin.
Most people would have panicked. Jonathan researched it. He figured out exactly what he’d done, how he’d done it, and how to fix it — and he repaired it himself by replacing the CPU. That moment, turning a mistake into a fix through nothing but persistence and research, is really where CPUBLD began.
Jonathan founded CPUBLD on November 16, 2021, with a passion for computers and a vision to make custom PC building accessible to everyone. It started right out of his bedroom. Friends and family would come to him for advice on getting into PCs — whether it was for gaming, for workstation use, or just everyday computing — and he’d guide them and build for them in whatever direction fit their needs.
That word-of-mouth, one-build-at-a-time start is exactly why the company works the way it does today: real guidance, matched to what you actually need, from someone who genuinely cares whether you end up with the right machine.
Across all of Jonathan’s work experience, the number one lesson he carried into CPUBLD is simple: customer service is the top priority. Not the parts, not the margins — the person on the other side of the build.
There’s a specific moment he built the whole company around: when someone gets a PC they first only envisioned — an idea, a wishlist, a dream setup — and now it’s a reality sitting on their desk. Watching that idea become something real is the part he admires most, and it’s the feeling CPUBLD is designed to deliver every single time.

We build gaming PCs, workstations, and servers, hand-assembled in Jersey City, NJ and shipped to all 50 states.
